The page is where Admins may add, edit, remove and merge student records in the database. Add students — Click "New Student" to manually add a student to the database. This does not put them in any gradebooks, but it does make it easier for teachers to add students to their own gradebooks and to avoid creating duplicate student records. Click "Import" to import all or several students with schedules so it's easier for teachers to setup their gradebooks. Edit students — Select a student and click "Edit Student" to edit their name, ID, email, phone, grade level and homeroom. See details Delete students — To delete a student record, click "". This deletes all students who are not in any gradebooks (students in old gradebooks for past terms are not deleted, so those gradebooks are still usable). It optionally lets you keep students from your last import in case teachers have not loaded their gradebooks yet. Note: Only teachers can remove students from their gradebooks and delete gradebooks, so ask the teacher to remove a student so you can purge them. To preview which students will be purged, go to the page and set the "List" menu to "Unused Students". Fix duplicates — If you find the same student listed more than once, that is because teachers accidentally created duplicate records because of misspellings or incorrect ID's. Click "" to automatically find any duplicate records. When it finds two records with the same or similar names, it prompts you to merge them together as the same student, or keep them as separate students. (If the names are misspelled so badly that it doesn't even recognize them as similar, you'll need to manually edit one of the names to make it like the other, then try the "Fix Dups" button again.) This ensures students/parents need only one password to see all classes, and all of the student's classes appear together on one Report Card. To prevent teachers from accidentally creating duplicate records, see Staff Restrictions. Archives — Old students are retained in your database so that teachers may keep their old gradebooks. Use the "Year" menu to select which year to view and search. Export — To export all student data to a file, go to the page. Video: Import Data & Student Records |
