The text box in the footer lets teachers find a student by typing any part of their name, ID (then press the Enter or Return key on your keyboard). This is convenient if you're entering grades for students in different periods. You also can find a student by email address or their parent's email address, which is especially useful if an email bounces back to you and you need to find who it belongs to to correct it. If more than one student matches, just press the Enter or Return key again to see the next matching student.
