You can import and export assignments to a spreadsheet. This is primarily useful to enter scores while offline using Excel (or any spreadsheet).
Note: This page describes importing/exporting scores on assignments. To export total grades see Export Grades.
To Export scores:
| 1. |
Go to the page and click the "Imp/Exp" button. |
| 2. |
Select "Export Assignments", and select which assignment(s) in which class(es) to export. |
| 3. |
Once the file is saved to your computer, you don't need to be connected to the internet anymore. |
To Edit scores offline: |
| 4. |
Open the data file in Excel (or any other spreadsheet). |
| 5. |
You can change or add new scores and comments. Do not change the assignment name or date, or other cells, otherwise SnapGrades won't know how to import the changes back into your gradebook. |
| 6. |
Save the spreadsheet as Text (Tab delimited) (.txt). |
To Import scores: |
| 7. |
Go to the page and click the "Imp/Exp" button. |
| 8. |
Select "Import Assignments", and select your .txt file, or paste the cells from the spreadsheet, and follow the prompts. (Note: The data must be in the format produced by the Export feature.) |
Note: You can create new assignments by adding extra columns to your spreadsheet and importing it. However, it is easier to first add the new ungraded assignments while online, then export them to create a spreadsheet ready to fill in.
If you do add a new assignment to your spreadsheet for standards-based grading, it imports only one column of scores for each assignment. So you cannot create a new assignment with separate scores for each objective, though you can export an assignment that already exists in your gradebook to edit separate scores for each objective.
You may also Export assignments to use the data in Excel (or any spreadsheet) to do further statistical analysis.
Note: This feature is not practical to save an electronic copy of your gradebook. Instead see Export Grades & Students.
