| Student/Parent Login |
|
You can optionally allow students and parents to login anytime to check current grades and homework in all their classes, including grades on all assignments, report cards, attendance, individual comments, class announcements and school announcements. Everyone has their own password so no one else can see their grades. All data is updated continuously, so you don't need to do anything to post or upload grades.
(Available only for paid licenses. If you have a Free account, students and parents will not see your classes.)
You can print for each student and parent (see details). Alternatively, you can email each student and parent their personal One-Click Access Link, which allows them to login without having to type their ID or password. Both Admins and Teachers can control what information is available online for students and parents. Admins have the page to show/hide grades, homework, attendance, report cards, and report card options, such as GPA. Teachers have the page to set their gradebooks "Offline", or "Show homework only" to keep just grades offline but still show homework announcements and assignment lists. These options are available only if your Admin allows grades online. Your settings apply to your gradebooks only, not other teachers'.
Note: It automatically shows just the current grading period on the main page when students and parents login, so it is not necessary for you to take old gradebooks offline. (In fact, you can only take an entire year online or offline, not each gradebook independently.) Students and parents can see old grading periods only by looking for them on the Assignments or Report Card pages.
The main page shows the "Homework & Announcements" text from each teacher's gradebook on the page, and invidual student comments from the page. Also Admins can type school-wide announcments on the page, which appear above the grades as an intro, or as an explanation why grades are offline.
To view how often and when each student and parent last logged in, or to reset their passwords if necessary, go to the or page.
To see the same information that they see, or to actually login as a student, teachers can go to the page, and Admins can go to the page. Note: Admins may disable this feature for some or all teachers.
SnapGrades is compliant with the U.S. Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA). Some school districts have policies against posting grades on the Internet, or allowing data to be hosted off-site. Ever since the advancement of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) in the late 1990's, all data is just as secure off-site on the Internet as it is on your district network. Please see Security for more details, and please contact us if you have any concerns or questions. |
